Inspektur Jenderal (Irjen) Agus Suryonugroho, Chief of the Indonesian Traffic Police (Kakorlantas Polri), has announced measures taken following an evaluation of the 2025 Eid al-Fitr homecoming (mudik) traffic flow. Irjen Agus stated that there would be increased deployment of personnel, particularly between kilometers 37 to 70 on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road, during the post-Eid return traffic.
Deployment Strategy
- Deployment Areas: Personnel will be stationed at various points, including resting areas, to manage traffic. This will involve members of the Sabhara unit and traffic management functions, especially congestion relief teams. The reinforcement will stretch from the Cikampek toll road to Palimanan.
Traffic Flow Engineering
-
Counterflow: A contraflow arrangement will be implemented from Kilometer 70 to Kilometer 47 on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road, with the possibility of extension up to Kilometer 36 based on real-time traffic conditions.
-
One-Way Traffic:
-
Local: Scheduled for April 3, from Kilometer 188 in Palimanan to Kilometer 70 at the Cikarang Utama toll gate for eastbound vehicles heading towards Jakarta.
-
National: If significant traffic persists on April 4, a second local one-way route will be activated from Kilometer 246 to Kilometer 188.
-
Extensions: Further extensions of the local one-way traffic may occur on April 5, with national one-way traffic planned for April 6. The national one-way traffic will be lifted on April 6 morning.
Additional Measures
-
Arterial Routes and Tourist Sites: Security and traffic management will also cover main roads and tourist destinations to ensure a smooth flow of post-Eid traffic.
-
Authority Readiness: Irjen Agus affirmed their readiness to facilitate a safe return for Eid al-Fitr travelers in 2025, in coordination with all relevant stakeholders.
These precautions, including phased one-way traffic implementations and enhanced personnel presence, aim to facilitate orderly and secure travel for those returning home after the holiday season.
